I am really excited about our member thank you picnic/tour that we never got to do last year! We plan to start off with a lovely bbq lunch at First Baptist Church in Taylor’s Falls. Our host, Kevin Schumann, is the pastor there. We will also have our annual dessert contest so bring a dessert to share as well as the recipe!
After lunch we will tour the garden at the church as well as Kevin’s garden. Next is Cherry Hill Park just a few blocks from Kevin’s at the intersection of Maple Street, Chestnut Street (Co. Rd. 20) and Mulberry Street. If you are still game for more you can check out Kent’s Plants and Wild Bird Store just off Hwy 8 (8 miles east of St. Croix Falls, WI.). Address is 1313-160th Ave. St. Croix Falls,WI. 54024. It is just past Deer Lake and is open Sundays 12-5, so you could visit either on your way to the picnic or on your way home! There are multiple gardens of hostas, lilies, and much more.
Lunch will include BBQ meat and buns, baked beans, coleslaw, chips and beverage. Desserts by members! Cost is only $5 per member; MPS is subsidizing the remaining cost.
Email admin@mnpeony.org before the 24th of this May if you are interested in attending. This will allow us to order the correct amount of food.
The American Peony Society’s 2025 Annual Convention will be a unique celebration of peonies, education, art, music, and food, crowned with the national flower show and exhibition. The event, which will be held in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin – has been developed in collaboration with the Wisconsin Arts & Peony Festival, the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce, and the State of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Peony Society.
The city offers a unique and diverse experience for attending members and the public, with a small “hometown” atmosphere and many arts and entertainment experiences. Beaver Dam has embraced “the peony” as a focal point for its annual Wisconsin Arts and Peony Festival. This is a wonderful platform to enjoy the festival and share our love and knowledge of peonies with the public.
Educational Seminars (7+ this year) and the Flower Show will be held at Beaver Dam High School on June 14 & 15 and is open to both members and the public.
Registration for the convention is now closed but the flower show is free and open to the public on Saturday, June 14th from 9 am to 5 pm and on Sunday, June 15th from 10 am to 4 pm.
